The "Baume des Barres" cave is located on the left bank of the
Chassezac river in the Casteljau canyon, about 1.5 km downstream
from the Mazet bridge. This balm is opened in the cliff and is
characterized by two horizontal bars fixed to the rock about 15
meters above the ground. It is accessed by a foot trail on the
bank upstream, then close diaclase which gives access to a large
porch twenty meters high. The gallery then turns left and joins
a window cliff. The findings in this cavity suggest that it was
furnished defensively habitat. |
